Crack Down on Corruption
According to a recent poll, Americans ranked “corruption of government officials” as their top fear, above North Korea’s use of nuclear weapons. Corruption isn’t just about campaign contributions and kickbacks — it’s all of the ways money is used to further private interests and undermine our democracy, like lobbying, sweetheart tax breaks, complex rules, and the revolving door of political appointees coming from industry.
Washington was supposed to be the place where our elected officials would represent us. But today, that seems like a fairy tale. Washington is where lobbyists and lawyers go to rig the system in their favor. GDI will identify policies to clean up corruption and to make government more accountable to the people.
